Composer and musicologist, born in Brieg/Schlesien (today: Brzeg/Woiwodschaft Opole, Poland), died in Vienna (Austria). He studied music in Breslau (Wroclaw), Vienna and Lipsia, afterwards he studied musicology in Berlin. He was musical assistent at the Bayreuther Festspiele and later head of the chamber music department in Cologne. He composed seven operas and chamber music. (Rainer Stelle)
