Composer, conductor and pianist, born in Langenbielau (Silesia, today: Bielawa/Poland), died in Berlin. He studied at the Music Academy in Vienna with Franz Schmidt and Clemens Krauss. Since 1927 he lived in Berlin. He worked at broadcasting stations. Since 1949 he taught in Berlin at conservatory and the Musikhochschule. He composed works for orchestra, chamber music and vocal music. (Rainer Stelle)
