Toshiuki Shimada and the Portland Symphony Orchestra gave the U.S. premiere of Strayhorn in Harlem, VMM label, in its tribute to Duke Ellington. He is Professor of Music at University of Massachusetts Boston where he chaired the Music Department for 15 years.
