Henry Berthold was until his death in 1987 as a violist in the Municipal Orchestra Chemnitz. Incidentally, he worked intensively with the composition of his own works, but had under the political conditions in the GDR few opportunities to perform it. For some time there has been a desire his oeuvre to bring to light and more and more known.
