English
A pianist and composer, she entered the Paris Conservatory when she was 12 as a piano prodigy with an amazing memory. Erik Satie was so impressed with her that he called her his “Musical Daughter.” She was the only female member of Les Six when it was formed in 1920. She was also influenced by Ravel, She had two unhappy marriages which was a psychological drain. Her ego suffered and she lost her drive and need to compose; she wrote mostly on commission after that. She composed a lot of film music. In spite of all of the above, she wrote some superb music.
