Composer, guitarist and double bassist, born in Honululu (Hawaii/USA). He is self-taught on the classic guitar (since 1971) and has attended (as observer) several master classes. The sensitive playing of C. Barbosa-Lima inspired him to write “Piccola Arietta”. Byron studied composition with Armand Russell, R. Neil McKay, Anthony Donato, Alan Stout, Richard Hillert. He was awarded degrees as Master of Music (composition) 1967, Doctor of Musical Arts (composition) 1972. Since 1971 he is Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, teaching composition and theory; private he teaches classic guitar and jazz improvisation. He has been double bassist with the Honululu Symphony Orchestra since about 1964 and a free-lance jazz bassist since 1960. (Rainer Stelle, 2006)
