Legata alla profonda diversità culturale che rende la Sardegna un mondo a sé, la sua ricca mitologia abbraccia racconti epici, creature mostruose e figure leggendarie. Tra le presenze più enigmatiche di questo mosaico misterioso vi sono le Janas, le controparti più oscure delle più note fate. Sono descritte come esseri piccoli e bellissimi, con una pelle delicata che il sole può bruciare facilmente—capricciose, a volte streghe, a volte fate. Abili tessitrici, condividevano con molte antiche divinità del telaio il dono della preveggenza e il potere di influenzare il destino degli uomini.
Janas – Poemetto per Flauto e Chitarra è un ciclo di cinque brevi brani che ritraggono musicalmente alcuni momenti della vita di queste creature mitologiche, dal loro risveglio fino all’alba—il momento in cui devono ritirarsi nelle loro grotte per evitare la luce bruciante del sole.
L’opera è costruita su una trama ad incastro, in cui cellule tematiche di una pagina compaiono, più o meno esplicitamente, in quella precedente. Il suo sviluppo si dispiega attraverso essenziali movimenti cromatici sui quali fluttuano brevi linee melodiche, sostenute dal dialogo tra i due strumenti.

Tied to the profound cultural diversity that makes Sardinia a world apart, its rich island mythology embraces epic narratives, monstrous creatures, and legendary beings. Among the most enigmatic figures in this mysterious mosaic are the Janas, the darker counterparts of the better‑known fairies.
They are described as small, beautiful beings with delicate skin easily burned by the sun—capricious, at times witches, at times fairies. Skilled in weaving, they shared with many ancient weaving deities the gift of foresight and the power to alter human destiny.
Janas – Poemetto per Flauto e Chitarra is a cycle of five short pieces that musically portray moments in the lives of these mythological creatures, from their awakening until dawn—the moment when they must retreat into their caves to avoid the sun’s burning light.
The work is built on an interlocking framework in which thematic cells from one page appear, more or less overtly, in the preceding one. Its development unfolds through essential chromatic motions over which brief melodic lines float, sustained by the dialogue between the two instruments.
