L’estate del 2026 segnerà l’inizio di una nuova avventura discografica: l’avvio delle registrazioni per il cofanetto "Leo Brouwer: Complete Music for Solo Guitar 1954-2020", per la prestigiosa etichetta olandese Brilliant Classics. Dopo quasi tre anni di studio immersivo, misto preparando ad un cammino di 24 mesi che darà vita a una raccolta di nove (o forse dieci) CD, custodi dell’eredità chitarristica del grande maestro cubano.
In questa avventura la voce della musica è affidata alle chitarre di Giuseppe Guagliardo. La casa di liuteria siciliana è lo sponsor ufficiale di questo nuovo progetto discografico.
Il mio legame con Guagliardo nasce nel 2003, da un incontro fortuito a una mostra, in un autentico colpo di fulmine. In quegli strumenti trovai l'esatta traduzione sonora della mia idea di timbro ed un ampio ventaglio espressivo.
Il 2025 ha celebrato i venticinque anni di attività per la Guagliardo Guitars. Per onorare questo traguardo, il Maestro Guagliardo ha dato vita al progetto "Edizione Anniversario": un connubio di abete selezionato e palissandro del Madagascar.
Ho ricevuto solo poche ore fa l'esemplare costruito appositamente per me. È uno strumento di rara eleganza caratterizzato da equilibrio polifonico (caratteristica primaria di tutti gli strumenti Guagliardo), tavolozza di colori e pasta sonora ricche e malleabili.
Come già avvenne per l'integrale di Barrios del 2010, la musica detterà la scelta dello strumento. Le chitarre Guagliardo della mia collezione — i modelli del 2003, 2009 e la nuova nata del 2025 — si alterneranno per assecondare le esigenze di ogni pagina scritta da Leo Brouwer.
The summer of 2026 will mark the beginning of a new recording adventure: the start of sessions for the box set Leo Brouwer: Complete Music for Solo Guitar 1954–2020, produced for the prestigious Dutch label Brilliant Classics. After nearly three years of immersive study, I am preparing for a 24‑month journey that will give life to a collection of nine (or perhaps ten) CDs, guardians of the guitar legacy of the great Cuban master. My connection with Guagliardo began in 2003, through a chance encounter at an exhibition — a true coup de foudre. In those instruments I found the exact sonic translation of my idea of timbre and an ample expressive palette.
The year 2025 marked the twenty‑fifth anniversary of Guagliardo Guitars. To honor this milestone, Maestro Guagliardo created the Anniversary Edition: a union of selected spruce and Madagascar rosewood.
I received just a few hours ago the instrument built specifically for me. It is a guitar of rare elegance, distinguished by its polyphonic balance (the primary hallmark of all Guagliardo instruments), and by a palette of colors and a sound texture that are rich and malleable.
As already happened with the complete Barrios recording in 2010, the music will dictate the choice of instrument. The Guagliardo guitars in my collection — the 2003 and 2009 models, and the newly born 2025 edition — will alternate to meet the expressive needs of each page written by Leo Brouwer.
